SLO 5: Understand the role of technology in education and effectively apply technology throughout the curriculum.
My Understanding of SLO 5:
This SLO is showing that, as an educator, I can effectively use technology to enhance lessons. The technology will help the class, and not be a special event-but something where students are simply able to be engaged in the material in another way. In today's world, technology is everywhere, and students should see that the technology will help in the classroom as well.

Rationale:
Both artifacts demonstrate my ability to use technology to support instruction. With my spelling lesson, I was able to encourage students to study their weekly words in a new, and exciting way. It was useful, because they can even use this site at home. The iPads also gave students a chance to experience more technology in the classroom. They were more engaged and willing to work hard, because they got to use such a fun and helpful tool.
With my social studies lesson, I was able to use a clicker program on the Ipads to give my students a pre-test. Students were exposed to the material in the chapter before starting it, and I was able to collect data about their prior knowledge. The students had fun with this activity because they got to use the iPads, but also show off what they already know. As a teacher, I also appreciated how easy it was to set up, and then instantly see results from my students.
